Would the world Manage without internet ? Watch Southpark to find out!

The most recent episode of South Park, season 12 episode 6, entitled over logging, was a great one for all techie’s. (Or atleast something we can relate with… to a point) I really admire the way South Park takes real life topics and really exaggerate them beyond what I thought was possible.

Beware : This post has spoilers for the episode, so only read it if you’ve already seen it, probably won’t have the time to watch it, or just don’t care to have the jist of it given away before you see it. Click below to keep reading :

Everyone in South Park woke up in the morning, to find out that the internet wasn’t working. It didn’t take long for panic to set in, and for mobs of crowds looking for internet to start rushing to Starbucks and other places that usually offer the service. When it was not available, thousands of people from across the country started heading to Silicon Valley, where it was assumed THEY, atleast, had internet access.

When the Marsh family finally arrived to silicon valley, they were kept in an “Internet Refugee Camp” that resembled a war time field hospital. People were assigned numbers, and waited for hours or days to get their turn, which lasted 40 seconds, on the 1 computer in the camp that had internet access. Everyone in the family had their own reason for needing the internet. Stan just wanted to look at web pages, the sister was desperate to speak with her online boyfriend, and the Father, Randy, really really needed to get his daily doses of online porn.

Then it REALLY started getting silly : The governments and the army got involved to fix the global internet problem. They went as far as to “GO TO” the internet to try and fix it. “The internet”, in this episode, was kept in an underground bunker. It was essentially, a GIANT D-Link Router. :) The scientists in charge of it were stumped, saying that the internet has almost come to a complete stop and they don’t know how to fix it. “You see that blinking orange light” they said, “it’s supposed to be solid”…

In the end, when all seemed to be hopeless, Stan had an idea. They stretched it out a lot, but basically, he went to the back of the “internet” , unplugged it, and immediately plugged it back in. At this point everything was working. AHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHA. Gotta love those routers …

You should take the time to watch this episode … You can download just about every south park episode in torrent format from this webpage (IF it’s legal for you to do so ofcourse).
