Electric Vehicules are the inevitable future

Russ Gries has taken a dead forklift and scrap motorcycle, and turned it into a working electric motorcycle ! This is a great step towards taking away our reliance on gasoline. (And anyone wanting to be as much off-grid as possible) Imagine how much gas would be saved if everyone that lives within 20 km’s of work started using only electric vehicules to get to and from work everyday instead of gas cars ? Electric vehicules are not dreams, they’re an inevitable route that we will have to take one day. That day is coming fast.
Electric vehicules aren’t ready for people who do LOTS of driving, but a lot of folk just use their cars to get to and from work everyday, and the grocery store and mall on the weekends. Electric vehicules are perfect for these people.
Don’t get me wrong, if you live in an area that gets their power from coal or nuclear plants, charging your electric car with coal power isn’t really being eco-friendly. If you had a windmill at home, with a combination of solar panels, you could have an electric vehicule that costs almost nothing to run ! (After the costs of the electric vehicule, along with the windmill / solar panels) I live in Quebec, all of our power is from hydro-electric plants, so this is an ideal area to have electric vehicules. (still not 100% green, but it’s better than most!)
There are currently KITS being sold to convert old cars to electric cars. You need to be very good with mechanics and electronics to get this done though. In fact there are some very good electric cars that already exist and are affordable, but are not road legal in most places yet including here in Quebec. One of the cities is testing some electric vehicules and are considering legalizing them. Most places where it IS legal to drive
an electric car, it’s because of a loophole where they’re classified as a recreational vehicule, like a golf cart would be.
Also, there are people that convert cars to run on old fryer oil from restaurants ! It’s a messy process, but it works ! I know someone who has 2 early 1990 Benz’s that run on restaurant oil’s. Now that’s recycling !

That is very cool - Cal would LOVE to have an electric motorcycle to use during the warmer months. We feel really bad about making the 45 minute commute into work everyday in our car, even though it’s smaller and somewhat more gas efficient than most.
Yeah I would also love to have an electric motorcycle ,…. but at this point, i’d settle for ANY motorcycle…
(Although I should probably get my licence first, which takes a good year)
